Expanding

How can you grow if you don’t step away from comfort? As daunting and frustrating as a new skill can be, its also exhilarating to broaden your scope and develop yourself in new ways. Specializing in a specified medium is an extraordinary accomplishment but branching out will likely strengthen your skill even more. Continued education doesn’t mean a year or two of schooling; taking a weekend or evening course is a prime example of broadening your horizon. These are generally crash courses on how-to and you walk away with a full set of new tools to enhance your work. For us, it is crucial to expand and explore. Portrait painting for Kim & wheel throwing for myself is new territory we are currently navigating. Learning from other artists and diving into their special fields is a refreshing roll to play and challenge to your inner student. After all, we never really stop being students. Get uncomfortable, try something new and have fun with it!
